                                                                                      Home grown always tastes better! With so many varieties that grow here, it’s hard not to find space for a few fruit trees, if not a whole orchard!

                                                                                      Orange Trees

                                                                                      Arizona Sweet - Are grown widely through out Maricopa Valley and are the most popular variety sold, very sweet and juicy.

                                                                                      Trovita - Very good juicing orange, almost as sweet as a Naval, very adaptable to the Southwest Desert climate.

                                                                                      Valencia - Most popular juice orange in today's market, not easily peeled, fruit holds on tree longer than most oranges.

                                                                                      Washington Navel - Slow growing produces large fruit that is easily peeled and no seeds, most popular eating orange.

                                                                                      Blood Oranges (Moro, Tarocco) - Fruit is a mild to dark maroon color depending on soil and climate and has interesting taste compared to other oranges.


                                                                                      Lemon Trees

                                                                                      Eureka - Small to medium tree very acidic with mostly no seeds, holds well on tree best to squeeze, hard to peel, great for mild winters.

                                                                                      Lisbon - Very heat tolerant along with high productive fruit bearing, very vigorous and thorny ripens in mid January to mid February.

                                                                                      Meyer or Improved Meyer - Very compact or dwarf variety, very dark green foliage, it's a favorite for cooking due to its sugar content, great for container grown.

                                                                                      Pink Lemon - Variegated foliage of white to light green, fruit has a pinkish color, very attractive in desert landscapes.


                                                                                      Grapefruit Trees

                                                                                      Marsh Seedless - Old favorite of 60's to be eaten at breakfast, fruit is often in cluster on the tree, very few seeds, holds for a long time on the tree, very vigorous grower.

                                                                                      Ruby Red - Medium to light Pink fruit color semi-sweet, as fruit ripens the rind becomes more pink tone, hardly any seeds and easily peeled, grows well in our warm desert climate.

                                                                                      Rio Red - Larger fruit than most other grapefruit with a lighter color of fruit, very juicy, hard to peel but holds for a long time on tree.

                                                                                      Oro Blanco - Easily peeled, longer on the tree the sweeter the fruit becomes, very few seeds and very juicy, fruit will actually be in segments that can be eaten.


                                                                                      Tangelo Trees

                                                                                      Minneola - Grows best in warm climates, can remain on tree for long periods of time, it is hybrid of a tangerine and grapefruit, very juicy and easily peeled, fruit has the reverse of a naval orange or a little top knot.

                                                                                      Orlando - Better grown in warmer climates mildly sweet and ripens very early does not hold well on tree more of a round fruit.


                                                                                      Mandarin or Tangerine Trees

                                                                                      Dancy - Usually ripens early December, small in size but very juicy but has several seeds.

                                                                                      Clementine (Algerian) - Medium size tree, very juicy, very easy to peel and fruit holds well on tree.

                                                                                      Fairchild - Few or no thorns when picking fruit, very compact growth, great flavor, great in the low Desert to bear fruit.

                                                                                      Kinnow - Very late ripening, very seeded but also very flavorful and aromatic, peels very easily.

                                                                                      Fremont - Most bears at the tip of branches, bears heavily in alternate years, grow well in Desert climate.

                                                                                      Satsumas - Very early ripening, mild to very sweet in flavor, often able to be eaten if skin still green and is seedless.



                                                                                      Lime Trees

                                                                                      Mexican Lime (Key Lime) - Protect from frost, very seeded and aromatic aroma, lime of choice for mixed drinks and some beers and bears fruit almost year around in warm climates.

                                                                                      Bearss Lime (Persian Lime) - Cold hardier that Mexican Lime, has few thorns and is seedless and juicy very compact growth.


                                                                                      Kumquat Trees

                                                                                      Kumquats - Bears year around and can be eaten whole or cut up into salads, Jell-O, or used to make sauces or into preserves. Mostly used as a container plant due to its dwarfing shrubby growth. Bears year around but the heaviest in the summer heat and is thornless, great around pools and spas very aromatic.

                                                                                      Limequats - Have a unique flavor and are oblong fruit with few seeds rarely do they become ripe mostly stay a green to light color, few thorns great around pools and spas very aromatic.


                                                                                      Peach Trees

                                                                                      IF YOU WANT TO GROW PEACHES IN OUR HOT, ARID CLIMATE THESE ARE THE BEST CHOICES!

                                                                                      Desert Gold - Gold color with red blush - time and time again a proven fruit bearer for the desert!

                                                                                      Florida Prince - More red color and slightly larger than desert gold but same reliable production in desert climates.

                                                                                      May Pride - Mostly yellow color with low chill hours necessary for production in warmer climates.


                                                                                      Plum Trees

                                                                                      Santa Rosa - Absolutely the very best for flavor and production for a plum that grows well in the desert environment. Probably the only plum variety that should be considered in the desert.


                                                                                      Nectarine Trees

                                                                                      Gold Mine - #1 for growing in desert conditions medium to large fruit, low chill hours & reliable production.

                                                                                      Snow Queen - Named for its white flesh, this low chill variety also produces well in hot climates.


                                                                                      Apricot Trees

                                                                                      Gold Kist - Early ripening and known for reliable production - specially in warmer areas.

                                                                                      Katy
                                                                                       - Larger, sweet apricot again great for producing in low altitude conditions.

                                                                                      Royal
                                                                                       (Blenheim) - Slightly smaller fruit but more usually produced and more intense apricot flavor.


                                                                                      Apple Trees

                                                                                      Anna - Originally developed by Israeli scientists for low altitude production it is perfectly adapted for fantastic production here in the Western U.S. Very sweet and surprisingly crisp. Sometimes both spring and fall crops develop.

                                                                                      Dorsett
                                                                                       (Golden) - Another great choice for low altitude gardens. Gold color when ripe. Sweet medium size apples very reliable production in low altitude areas.
