Watering New Trees

Arizona / Nevada

Every time a tree is watered, the soil should be thoroughly saturated to a depth of at least 2 to 3 feet and at least as wide as the tree. Immediately after planting, new trees should be watered daily for the first 2 to 3 days, then use the appropriate schedule, depending on the time of year/temperature. Very slow and deep watering is always recommended. During periods where daytime temperatures are near 100ยบ, we advise at least one additional time per week of watering for all varieties. These watering schedules are based on average conditions in the area. They should be followed for at least the first two years after planting.

Sapling Care

The first two years after a tree is planted is when it settles in and begins to establish the main root structure that will support it for its entire life. Proper watering is essential during this period to ensure a long healthy life. Use this reference guide to help provide your new trees with the necessary water. Remember to water all new trees daily for the first week or so, then use the application schedule.
