Lemon (Citrus × limon)

Citrus trees have many uses around the home. Lemon trees, in particular, have many culinary and household uses that can make everyday life that much easier.

Lemons can be used for juicing, cooking, flavoring meats and seafood as well as used to make natural pesticides as well as herbicides such family friendly weed killers. The oils and flowers are also great for leaving a fresh clean scent throughout an area.

Lemons are not typically the go-to choice for an afternoon snack, but they are great for just about everything else. We consider them to be powerhouses for bringing out explosions of flavor in our food and drinks. The many health benefits of the Lemon have been known for centuries and are now a staple in many residential landscapes. Lemons are generally available throughout the year but are at their peak in the summer months between May and August.

Lemon trees are very easy to grow and are attractive trees that can be placed in most landscapes. Lemon trees are not only useful for providing fruit but they are also great as a privacy barrier, shade tree, or as a focal point and decorative tree when used properly in your landscape. There are several varieties to choose from, but only a small number are recommended as excellent and reliable for our area.
