Sweet Acacia (Acacia smallii)
This extremely versatile Acacia works well as a focal landscape tree due to its vibrant appearance and spreading canopy. The Sweet Acacia presents a thick canopy of dark green leaves and a rich, dark brown trunk that may even reach black in appearance.
This tree is easily recognized by its “sweet” smelling golden colored blooms that appear in Spring, but stay with the tree much longer than most other blooms. Sweet Acacia trees are common among landscape designs in the southwest, allowing landscapers a very strong effect that contrasts well with almost any landscape.
Fragrant golden puffballs appear in spring and late fall that hold on the tree for long periods of time
