Jacaranda (Jacaranda mimosifolia)

DESCRIPTION

The vibrant purple blooms of the Jacaranda are noticed across the West from mid to late spring. Though traditionally known for their color, Jacaranda trees make excellent shade trees; their unique foliage makes them adaptable to many landscape designs from desert to tropical. Though soft in appearance, Jacarandas are pretty tough trees and love growing in the intense summer heat that our deserts endure.

Jacaranda growth patterns vary from upright, single trunk trees to wider, spreading canopies when multiple trunk trees are planted.
