It's easy to see where the Fishhook Barrel Cactus gets its name. The long, red, curved thorns produced by the Fishhook Barrel Cactus give this specimen a very unique look that carries throughout the growth of the tree. During late spring, the Fishhook Barrel Cactus will bloom with orange-red blooms in the spring, followed by round, pear-shaped fruit that turns yellow when ripe. Native to Arizona and Mexico, Fishhook Barrel Cactus are perfectly at home in Phoenix and will thrive in the full sun. A moderately fast growing cactus, the Fishhook Barrel Cactus can reach up to 5 feet tall, but is most known for keeping its rounded, symmetrical shape throughout growth.
- CoolPlanted 3 of these in the front yard. Sick and tired of the people walking through my yard and kicking my rocks. I asked the guys over at the nursery what I could do and they sold me these and few Ocotillo trees and some agaves. Gotta say, it's reduced the amount of people that want to try and venture through my property and destroy my front yard rocks. Guys did a good job when they planted, they were professional and quick.
