Myoporum (Myoporum parvifolium)
- Very flat growing ground cover creates a nice green carpet in landscapes
- Spreads rapidly / Evergreen
- Good in all landscape styles
- Periodic small white blooms
Myoporum is an Australian and Southeast Asia native, and we like to use them as a moderate growing ground cover on banks or slopes, where they blanket the area with a dense covering of light green leaves. They are valuable on slopes thanks to their surface erosion control ability. They are showy evergreen shrubs. In the summer, tiny white flowers appear, which are followed by purple fruits, creating a show of color that makes them suitable for all landscape styles! We also like to plant them near pathways, where they can create a nice green carpet (though it does not like to be walked on!)
Myoporum parvifolium loves to grow in an open space with full sun exposure and is an excellent choice for homeowners looking for an easy to care for way to add lots of color to any landscape. They love the heat and once established, have low to moderate watering needs.
