Chinese Flame Tree (Koelreuteria bipinnata)
The Chinese Flame Tree, also known as the Bougainvillea Goldenrain Tree, is often used as a shade tree in smaller landscapes and along neighborhood streets. In early summer, it boasts upright clusters of vibrant yellow fragrant flower. It is aptly named for its fall display of seed capsules - long papery husks resembling Chinese lanterns.
A deciduous and broad-spreading tree that is a cousin of the Goldenrain Tree. Flame trees are easy to grow, adapt to most soils, and make the perfect addition as a shade tree in just about any landscape.
