Madagascar Palm (Pachypodium lamerei)
This popular semi-succulent has a shiny silver trunk covered with long, needle-sharp spines. The crown on the Madagascar Palm displays long, narrow green leaves that only grow at the top of the trunk, like a palm tree. Clusters of fragrant, white flowers will occasionally appear during the summer months.
The Madagascar Palm loves the sandy soil and prefers to be planted in a group, close together. They are moderately salt-tolerant, making them an ideal choice for coastal environments. Plant in full sun away from recreational areas, driveways or walkways and enjoy the beauty this palm exudes.
