Reed Avocado

These trees get their name from the farmer who originally found the seedling in Carlsbad, California in 1948. Reed Avocado trees are similar in growth and appearance to other avocado varieties. These trees are known for their larger-than-average fruit. They have thin skin which makes them easy to peel. They have a bold buttery texture with a rich and nutty flavor. Like all avocados, there are many health benefits to eating this type of fruit, rich in nutrients and vitamins.

Reed Avocado trees are similar in care to other types of avocados. They prefer well-draining soil and are allowed to dry between waterings. These trees should also be fertilized regularly during their growing season to help produce the best quality fruit and keep the tree healthy and growing. Pruning is done when needed and since they are evergreen, there is minimal litter to clean up each season.
