Maxima King Palm (Archontophoenix maxima)

  • Also known as Walsh River King Palm
  • Hardier than standard King Palms
  • An elegant and stately palm for landscapes
  • A low-maintenance tropical shade tree
  • Clusters of creamy white flowers when in bloom
  • Exotic, rare palm available at Moon Valley Nurseries

The Maxima King Palm, Archontophoenix maxima, can create an awesome silhouette when the sun sets, and do it without blocking much of your view! The largest of the tall and slender Archontophoenix species, these elegant and stately palms feature large green fronds that spread wide so that they can add a splash of tropical shade and beauty to any landscape. Also known as the Walsh River King Palm, these Australian natives are found thriving in the tropical rainforests and wet eucalypt forest habitats of North Queensland - these self-cleaning palms love growing in our local climate too!

Maxima King Palms are ideal for creating a tropical rainforest look and feel. If you want to create a tropical backyard retreat, plant them in clusters near swimming pools. We like to attach a hammock to the sturdy trunks, and enjoy the peaceful view! Archontophoenix maxima are also perfect as a focal point in a front yard and lining them up along a driveway. They are sure to add curb appeal and attract all the right attention no matter where we plant them!

We love Maxima King Palms because of their attractive features and because they are also low maintenance palm trees. They can grow well in an area with full sun exposure or partial shade, and once established, have low to moderate watering needs. They are also hardier than other King Palms, so you could say that they are the “king” of the Archontophoenix species!

At Moon Valley Nurseries, we have been custom-growing the exotic and rare Maxima King Palm for over 20 years, from our premium quality seeds. We are the growers so that we can assure their quality is the best you will find anywhere!
