Leafminers

WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR

Leafminers damage the leaves of plants by feeding within very thin tunnels on the upper surface of the leaf. These leaves will dry up as the insects do their damage.

SIGN OF INFESTATION

Leafminers leave behind a silver, papery tunnel where they feed. Tunnels coupled with distorted growth are a sure sign of infestation. Look for this pest on the upper surface of the leaves in the spring and fall.

How to Treat

  1. Prevention – Leafminer infestations can be prevented through application of a systemic insecticide at the onset of growing season.
  2. Fertilizer – Vigorous trees are not only better equipped to fight off pest infestations—they are also less susceptible to them in the first place! Keep your trees in their healthiest shape with the help of monthly Super Charged Moon Juice applications and proper fertilization with our customized blend of Moon Dust.
  3. Treatment – By combining a topical treatment with a soil drench, you can get rid of leafminers quickly and keep them gone with lasting, systemic protection. Always follow all instructions on the label and check for special instructions regarding applications to fruiting trees. A light prune following treatment can get rid of any unsightly damaged leaves.
