THRIPS
WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR
Thrips damage plants by piercing leaf surfaces and sucking out sugars and nutrients. They are often too small to see with the naked eye but can be easily recognized by the damage they cause.
SIGN OF INFESTATION
Thrips will be the most active during your plant’s growing season. Any damage they cause will be present on the plant’s leaves and fruits. They will cause leaves to become curled and stunted with dead patches. On fruits you can find scarring near the stem attachment.
How to Treat
- Prevention – Eliminating weeds in your landscaping will help prevent infestations by minimizing habitat for thrips to multiply and spread. You can also effectively prevent thrip infestations through the application of a systemic insecticide at the onset of growing season.
- Fertilizer – Stressed out plants are more likely to attract insect pests—keep your plants’ defenses up with year-round applications of Super Charged Moon Juice and seasonal applications of our Moon Dust fertilizer!
- Treatment – Mix and apply systemic drench and spray foliage with Spinosad using hose end sprayer. Then apply fertilizers and moon products to aid in plant health recovery and promote new growth.
