Desert bird of paradise (Caesalpinnia Giliessii)
The Desert Bird of Paradise is most notable for its red stamens contrasting with soft yellow flowers. Feathery type foliage makes these ‘Birds’ a great choice to soften hard desert landscapes or in transition areas between green and desert landscaped areas. Pruning branch ends following a bloom cycle will keep it fuller and promote a quicker re-bloom.
Plant in native soil, making sure to break up the soil beneath the roots. Good drainage will allow a larger root system to develop and will produce greener leaves. Water deeply and consistently through the first two summers to establish optimal strength.
Medium to tall accent shrub with an open canopy.
Great for both desert and tropical landscapes
