Plumeria is native from Mexico to Panama and is well-known for their lovely, spiral-shaped blooms that range in color from white through yellow, gold, and orange to shades of pink and red! They are also known by their botanical name, Plumeria rubra, and their flowers are among the most fragrant of any tropical flowering plant. The bloom begins in the spring and can last up to six months! Besides the plumeria flower, this deciduous tree features green leaves that turn red in the fall, so we like to use them as a focal point in the front yard, where their good-looks are sure to add curbside appeal! We also like to use them in a tree pit, or near a deck or patio, where anyone can relax and enjoy the fragrant blooms that fill the air!

Grow them outdoors or indoors because Plumeria can grow in both environments just fine! If you plan to grow one as an indoor houseplant, we recommend placing them in a room with bright light to full sun exposure. Outdoors, this Plumeria rubra plant thrives in full sun, in fact, the plants bloom best when there is plenty of sunlight, so we like to plant them in a sunny spot in the yard! Just give this plant the care it needs, and it will reward you for many years!

Moon Valley Nursery is the grower that can assure the quality of our Plumeria rubra plant! We custom-grow them in our local climate so that they are ready to thrive in your landscape! Visit any of our nurseries throughout the southwest and handpick the perfect tree today!

Every time a plant is watered, the soil should be thoroughly saturated to a depth of at least 2 to 3 feet and at least as wide as a tree well. Very slow and deep watering is always recommended. During periods of extreme heat, we advise at least 1 additional time per week of watering for all varieties. For periods of heavy rain (1/2” or more) adjust accordingly by possibly skipping a watering session for that time.

These Mature trees are beautiful and can be a tremndous conversation piece for people to ask, "what are those" if grown in an area where they are not well known.
