We’re Partnering with Green Fenix To Rebuild Altadenas’ Lost Greenery

On January 7, 2025, the Eaton Fire tore through Altadena; more than 14,000 acres were burned, nearly 9,400 structures destroyed, and entire communities left scarred. Our mission is to restore these spaces by planting fire resistant trees in homes, parks, and recreational areas affected by the fire.

Together, we’re bringing back shade, beauty & hope.

New Home, New Tree - and Beyond

Working with LA County and local partners, Green Fenix restores Altadena’s lost canopy by planting mature, fire-resistant trees at homes, parks, and public spaces. Through local nursery partnerships, 20+ year-old trees are delivered and planted to bring back shade, beauty, and resilience—each one documented as part of the community’s recovery and renewal.

Fire-Resistant Trees And How We Plant Them

A fire resistant landscape starts with quality trees. Fire-resistant trees have higher water retention making them less flammable when in contact with high heat and fire. Incorporating these trees in your landscape can help protect your home and prevent the spread of wildfires.

Plus, how we plant them boosts fire safety as well. Making sure that each plant has an adequate amount of space from each other as well as vital structures in your landscape makes all the difference in a wild fire.
