The Mexican Sycamore, botanical name Platanus Mexicana, is a majestic medium to large sized tree that can bring instant shade to any property! We love how its far-reaching canopy provides a wide umbrella of shady relief to cool anyone off during those hot and bright Texas days. It's a gorgeous tree too, featuring dark green foliage that transforms to a crisp golden brown color in the fall with smooth, mottled, gray white bark that complements the foliage beautifully. Sycamore trees are classic and this one is no exception. This is a fast-growing shade tree that will not have you waiting too long before you can bask under the lush foliage enjoying the birds and small wildlife that this tree attracts.
Mexican Sycamore trees are drought tolerant once established and do well with full sun exposure or partial shade. They are adaptable to alkaline soils, love to grow in our local climate and will have low to moderate watering needs once established. We love this tree and they are an excellent park-style tree or street tree that can add curb appeal to any Texas landscape. This is a living work of art that gets better looking with age!
