Named for its uniquely spade-shaped leaves, the Cow's Tongue Prickly Pear Cactus grows several large upward leaves that reach up to 4 feet. The recognizable color and texture are reminiscent of most Prickly Pear varieties, but the unique shape of the Cow's Tongue Prickly Pear sets this species apart from the pack. The Cow's Tongue Prickly Pear blooms large yellow flowers in late spring, followed by large pods of edible red fruit.
Cow's Tongue Prickly Pear is native to Arizona, so you won't have to worry about introducing this species to your landscape - it's perfectly suited for our environment. While you can grow Cow's Tongue in the shade, plant them in the full sun for best results.
"Who doesnt love a good prickly pear?! These are a staple in Arizona, so its a must to have some form of them in your landscape if you go with a class rock yard. "
