Bright daisy-like flowers adorn this small, compact shrub in spring and fall. Native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, the Damianita Daisy (Chysactiana mexicana) is a tough, durable plant that can tolerate extreme heat and cold. It is most commonly used in commercial settings because of its extreme durability, but it makes a great little accent in residential desert landscapes. This plant has fragrant, yellow daisy-like flowers and aromatic, dark green leaves. It typically reaches 2 to 3 feet in height and spreads 3 feet wide, forming a bushy, rounded shape. The Damianita Daisy prefers full sun with well-drained soil. Light shearing in late spring removes old flower heads and encourages new growth.
