Maiden Grass (Miscanthus sinensis), also known as Eulalia Grass, is a popular ornamental grass prized for its graceful, arching form and fine-textured foliage. Native to East Asia, this clump-forming perennial typically grows 4 to 7 feet tall and adds elegant movement and height to garden beds and borders. Its narrow, green leaves often feature a central white stripe and turn golden-yellow or bronze in the fall, providing year-round visual interest. In late summer to early fall, Maiden Grass produces feathery, reddish-copper flower plumes that rise above the foliage and age to a soft silvery-white, remaining attractive well into winter.

Adaptable and low-maintenance, Maiden Grass thrives in full sun and well-drained soil and is hardy in USDA Zones 5 to 9. It tolerates heat, humidity, and drought once established, making it an excellent choice for a variety of landscape settings, from modern to naturalistic designs. While it requires little upkeep, cutting it back to a few inches above the ground in late winter or early spring helps maintain a tidy appearance and encourages fresh, healthy growth. Maiden Grass also serves well as a privacy screen, accent plant, or part of a mixed perennial border, offering structure, texture, and seasonal beauty.
