The Pink Fairy Duster is a charming, low-growing desert shrub native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It gets its name from the delicate, powder-puff-like pink flowers that bloom from late winter through spring, sometimes continuing into early summer depending on rainfall. These airy, brushy blossoms, made up of long pink stamens, are highly attractive to hummingbirds, butterflies, and native bees. With its fine-textured, fern-like foliage and compact, mounding form—typically 2 to 4 feet tall and wide—the Pink Fairy Duster adds soft color and texture to desert and xeriscape gardens.

This hardy plant is well-suited to hot, arid climates and thrives in full sun with minimal water once established, making it a great choice for water-wise landscapes. It prefers well-drained soil and can handle rocky or sandy ground with ease. Virtually pest- and disease-free, it requires little maintenance beyond occasional pruning to shape or encourage denser growth. In addition to its ornamental value, the Pink Fairy Duster is also useful for erosion control on slopes and banks. Its beauty, resilience, and support for pollinators make it a standout in any drought-tolerant garden design.
