Sea Lavender also known as statice or Perez’s sea lavender, is a hardy perennial valued for its vibrant purple-blue flowers and tough, leathery foliage. Native to the Canary Islands, this plant thrives in coastal environments and is especially known for its long-lasting blooms that resemble clouds of color floating above thick, green basal leaves. The flowers appear on tall, branching stems from spring through fall, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies while also making excellent cut or dried flowers for arrangements. Despite their delicate appearance, the flowers are papery and durable, holding their color for months.

Sea Lavender is exceptionally well-suited to dry, sunny conditions and performs best in well-drained soil with minimal watering once established. It's highly salt-tolerant, making it ideal for seaside gardens, borders, and xeriscapes. In addition to its drought resistance, it’s low-maintenance and largely pest- and disease-free. The plant forms a dense clump around 1 to 2 feet tall and wide, and it pairs beautifully with succulents, grasses, and other drought-tolerant perennials. With its vivid color, extended bloom period, and resilience, Sea Lavender is a standout choice for gardeners seeking beauty with minimal upkeep.
