Rosemary is a very hardy herbaceous shrub with many ornamental uses in all styles of landscaping. Easy to grow in a variety of soils, rosemary has been a mainstay of western gardens Trailing rosemary is a fragrant, evergreen herb known for its cascading growth habit and versatility in both culinary and ornamental gardens. Unlike upright rosemary varieties, trailing rosemary grows horizontally, spilling over the edges of containers, raised beds, and retaining walls, creating a lush, aromatic groundcover. Its slender, needle-like leaves are a rich green, and small blue to lavender flowers appear in spring and occasionally throughout the year in mild climates. The plant thrives in full sun, prefers well-drained soil, and is highly drought-tolerant once established.

In addition to its visual appeal, trailing rosemary offers practical benefits. It’s a popular culinary herb, with leaves that can be used fresh or dried to season meats, vegetables, and breads. The plant is also deer-resistant, attracts pollinators like bees, and can help stabilize soil on slopes due to its spreading growth. Gardeners favor it for rock gardens, Mediterranean-style landscapes, and herb spirals. Low-maintenance and aromatic, trailing rosemary combines beauty and function, making it a valuable addition to water-wise and edible landscapes alike.

"I have a few trailing rosemary trailing in pots on my patio and love the look. They have a very nice appearance and the smell and flowers are wonderful. I haven't tried cooking with them, but will need to try soon, if they add a flavor similar to the smell they have, I'm sure it'll be wonderful!"
