A member of the Agave parryi variety, native to northern Mexico, the Artichoke Agave, (Agave parryi var. truncata) is not an edible artichoke but an attractive succulent valued for its dramatic foliage color. The dazzling silver-blue leaves are abundant and make this agave a great bright accent in any low-water landscape such as in rock gardens, and create an impressive sight when mass planted in any landscape! We also like to utilize them as an effective barrier along property lines and like most succulents, are an excellent addition to any fire-wise landscape. Their compact size makes them suitable for a broad range of landscape uses! Grow them in a decorative pot or plant them in the ground, they are beautiful plants no matter how you choose to grow them.
Artichoke Agave has a moderate growth rate and thrives in a spot with plenty of full sun exposure. Once established, these waterwise plants are drought tolerant with little to moderate watering needs.
