The Yucca Gloriosa or "Spanish Dagger" is a full sun, drought-tolerant plant that grows in many areas of the Southwest. These plants can grow up to 8-10' tall and spread wide or kept narrow depending on the number of trunks they develop. The Spanish Dagger has thick green leaves that are durable while still possessing a unique trunk structure. Minimal maintenance is required for this plant, making it an attractive option for most. Minor pruning is needed as old, lower leaves begin to brown and add to the trunk aesthetic once pruning has occurred. Utilized in all low-water desert landscapes or tropical oases, the Yucca gloriosa is a very easy-to-maintain clumping plant that tolerates full sun to part shade.
