Our wholesale team designed, delivered, and planted a resort-caliber poolscape for this private Phoenix estate — transforming the landscape into a lush, tropical retreat.
Tucked into a quiet Phoenix neighborhood, this estate called for a backyard that felt more like a five-star resort than a residential poolscape. The homeowners wanted mature, tropical-style plantings that would deliver instant impact and total privacy — without the wait typically associated with new landscaping. Moon Valley Nurseries' wholesale team was brought in to design, deliver, and professionally plant a complete palette of premium palms, hedges, and flowering shrubs suited to the scale and ambition of the project.
Estates of this caliber demand more than off-the-shelf nursery stock. Our wholesale division specializes in sourcing and installing mature specimens for luxury residential projects across the Sun Belt, giving homeowners a fully finished look from day one rather than years of growing in. The Trajan project is a showcase of what's possible when premium plant material, expert design, and professional installation come together on a single property.
The design concept centered on the pool as the heart of the backyard, with towering Date Palms positioned to frame the water and cast dramatic silhouettes throughout the day. Dense privacy hedges were selected and placed along the property's perimeter to create a fully enclosed, secluded escape, screening the yard from neighboring views while establishing a strong, structured backdrop for the softer plantings inside it.
Layered in front of the hedge line, a curated mix of flowering shrubs adds color, texture, and movement throughout the space, softening the hardscape and giving the poolscape a lush, resort-style finish year-round. Every plant was selected not just for its aesthetic, but for its ability to thrive in Phoenix's climate long after installation. Our team worked closely with the homeowners to match palm sizes, hedge density, and shrub varieties to the exact scale of the yard, ensuring a cohesive, professionally designed look rather than a piecemeal collection of plants.
Mature Date Palms and dense hedge material require more than a shovel and a truck, they demand specialized equipment, precise handling, and a crew experienced in transporting and installing large specimens without stressing the plant. Moon Valley Nurseries' professional planting team managed every step of the process, from careful digging and transport at our farm to precision placement and installation on-site at this desert estate.
Our planting crews are trained to handle the unique demands of poolscape environments; positioning palms for the right amount of shade and sightlines, spacing hedges for maximum privacy coverage, and installing shrubs at the ideal depth and spacing for healthy root establishment. The result is a backyard that looked complete and resort-ready the moment the last plant was set in the ground, backed by Moon Valley's tree warranty for lasting peace of mind.
